While this picture is from three weeks ago at 11 weeks, I still wanted to share my growing bump. I will post a more up to date picture soon :)
Chris isn't the only one who has been spoiling me. Several months ago my friend Jenny and I planned a party for ourselves for the season 2 premiere of Glee. Yes, we are obsessed and self-proclaimed "gleeks". Jenny decided to order a cookie cake for our little party and it was the perfect way to celebrate the return of our favorite show and introduce baby Martin to the sounds of Glee music playing in the house.
There have been quite a few lessons I have learned about pregnancy over the past few weeks.
Rule #1: Don't buy surplus amounts of a food you like right now, because chances are you won't like it long enough to go through the Sam's supply you purchased.
Examples: cereal, waffles, peanut butter, nutella, cheetos, apple sauce, ranch dressing, potatoes, and chicken fingers (sorry Chris, I know we ate those last night, but they weren't so kind to me at lunch today).
Of course there are always a few exceptions: watermelon, peaches, strawberries, grapefruit...are you seeing a fruit pattern here?...oh and then there is Chick-fil-A, the unhealthy, and definitely not fruit, exception.
Rule #2: Always plan to make at least 2 trips to the bathroom before going to bed. And then another trip in the middle of the night. I thought I had a small bladder before, well now I have a small bladder with a peach-sized baby sitting on top!
Rule #3: The baby takes up some of your oxygen supply, so you can't talk as fast as usual without gasping for air. This makes it difficult to carry on lengthy conversations and babble on and on about my day to Chris.
Rule #5: You forget things, like rule #4. On more than one occasion, I have been told I'm getting dumber. So I say to my mother-in-law, I could have sworn I told you Jenny got the job at Southern Miss; to my brother, I am sorry your birthday present is late but I forgot to mail it on time; to my misplaced glasses, I am sure I will find you one day; and as my husband pointed out, I am sure I should apologize to him for something, I just can't remember what it is right now.
Rule #6: Everywhere you go, you will hear every screaming toddler, crying baby and child temper tantrum within a 100 mile radius. Its as if they flock to you as a warning of things to come.
So, hopefully now that I am in my second trimester, I will have more energy! We have a lot to look forward to in this trimester- our "babymoon" to Colorado, finding out the sex of the baby and starting to decorate the nursery! I can't wait for the journey ahead :)
