As he felt around on my belly, he had a funny look on his face. He said, "I think her head is at the top." He ordered an ultrasound to find out what Emma Claire was up to. Turns out, he was right. After being head down for nearly 4 weeks, she had decided to flip back around and nestle her head under the right side of my ribs.
Next thing I know, we are looking at the calendar to schedule a c-section. Boy, this was NOT how I saw my day going! I asked if we were going to plan the delivery, if we could plan if for April 11 so my dad would be back from the Masters. He said we could, if I wanted to wait that long. So we scheduled the delivery for April 11. But as we were walking out of the door, the doctor grabbed Chris and said, "You know this will happen before April 11, right? As long as you know that..." Well, why didn't you just tell me that in the first place???
We walked outside of the clinic and I immediately called one of my best friend's little sister, who works in postpartum at the hospital. I asked for her advice about the c-section and if she thought we needed to schedule it for sooner. Knowing that I wanted her to be my nurse after Emma Claire is born, I said, "When would it be most convenient for YOU for me to have this baby?" After picking a new date, we went back into the clinic to reschedule the c-section.
So, April 6 it is! Having an actual date that we KNOW she will be here makes it so much more real! We knew it wouldn't be much longer, but after that appointment, we could say "Emma Claire will be here in 11 days!" Nothing like a scheduled delivery to put parents-to-be in gear to get everything done before the arrival!
My mom and dad were in town for the weekend, so we got to share the news with them that afternoon. While I really wish my dad could be here for Emma Claire's arrival, I know he will be beaming with pride at the Masters. I suppose it seems somewhat fitting for him to be at his FAVORITE place on earth on what I hope will be one of the best days of his life. He has already made plans to paint Augusta National PINK on Wednesday. Mom pointed out that Wednesday is the day of the Par 3 Contest and is known as "family day" on the course, where the players bring their kids to caddy for them on the par 3 course. Lucky for Chris, he will have something to watch on tv while we are in the hospital. How convenient...he was trying to figure out a way to watch the Masters during the week and SOMEHOW we end up being in the hospital on the day they start broadcasting the tournament! Anyone else think this might have possibly been part of his plan???
6.5 days. 156 hours. Our lives are about to change for the better...the way way way better!
Here are a few pictures of some final projects and new additions to her loot...
Chris' mom made this precious bunny for our little Easter chick. She will hatch just in time for Easter!
I decided I may want to practice my swaddling techniques before EC arrives. Daisy helped :)
Its tiny Toms!!! Some of our best friends gave these to us at a shower this weekend. They are so small and cute...and inspired by Its a Small World :)
Of course nothing in Emma Claire's room is plain jane. Chris' mom covered the plastic drawers that go beside Emma Claire's crib and the diaper genie. What a princess she will be!
